History of the Korean War. Communist
Forces of the Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea invaded the Republic of
South Korea across the 38th parallel, 25th June 1950. UN forces, US, British
and Commonwealth forces were committed to the defence of South Korea.
Historical military art prints of the Korean War including battle of the
Hook, Chosin Reservoir and the retreat from the Yalu River, and the Pusan
Perimeter, Inchon, Seoul, Sinuigu.
The United Nation Forces consisted of
American, British, Australian, Canadian, French, Philippino and Greek
military units.

The Battle of Imjin, Crash Action by David Rowlands.
On 25th April 1951, Lieutenant John Mole, in command of the remaining section of the Royal Ulster Rifles 3 inch mortars, dismounted in the open and replied with rapid mortar fire on to the slopes from which a hail of machine-gun fire swept the valley floor. The surviving tanks of C Squadron the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars kept up a heavy fire on the Chinese formations swarming down the valley slopes.

Frozen Chosin, Korea, December 1950 by David Pentland.
On 27th November 1950, thousands of Chinese troops swarmed over the frozen Yalu river on the North Korean /Chinese border, cutting off US Marines in the Chosin Reservoir area. Over the next ten days the marines with air support from both the Navy and Marine Air Wings fought their way out of the trap to Hungnam and safety.

Hawker Sea Furies buzz the stern of HMAS Sydney during fleet
exercises off Jervis Bay 1956. The Sea Fury was developed from the Hawker Tempest. With the Fleet
Air Arm receiving their first aircraft to 807 squadron in August
1947. It continued in service until 1953, The Hawker Sea Fury was a
carrier borne aircraft and most of its operational career was during the
Korean War, where it was used as a ground attack aircraft. It also saw
alot of aerial combat against the Mig-15 Jets. The total number of
Sea Furies built was 860 aircraft.

| US Landings at Inchon
General Almond's US 10th Corps, after making a
surprise landing at Inchon behind enemy lines on September 15th 1950 (Inchon
50 miles west of Seoul on the Korean west coast), drove North Korean
forces inland at cut off their lines of coimmunication and taking
125,000 prisoners. They also captured on September 19th the airfield at
Kimpo and then continued their advance to Seoul. |
